Sammamish, incorporated in 1999, is King County’s newest city. It has a total area of about 13,556 acres and borders the east shore of Lake Sammamish. The city is known for its natural settings with views of mountains, trees and lakes. Besides Lake Sammamish, Beaver Lake and Pine Lake are also located in the city.

Community

Residents can enjoy the natural settings of the city with views of the mountains and the lakes. Sammamish produces a well educated workforce with 40.9% of the population possessing a Bachelor’s degree. Both the Lake Washington and Issaquah school districts, two of the county’s best school districts, are located within city limits. One of the state’s most affluent cities, with a per capita income that ranks 11th out of 522 cities in the state, Sammamish also boasts a convenient transit system with bus routes to Seattle and various Eastside communities.

Economic Development

Sammamish has become an attractive site for businesses and residents due to its close proximity to area cities such as Seattle, Issaquah and Bellevue.

There are currently two major business communities located within the city: the Pine Lake and the Inglewood shopping centers, which run along the city’s main north/south arterial corridor at 228th Avenue. In addition to these two, plans for a third business community are currently underway. The third business area will be called the Sammamish Commons and is located between the two primary business areas.
