The city of Pacific was incorporated in 1909. The total area of the city is 2.6 square miles with a small portion of the city located in Pierce County. The lower White River runs through the east side of Pacific between Auburn and Sumner. Pacific began to develop economically after the installation of sewage systems in the city by the Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle in the 1970s. Today, Pacific is home to commuters who work in nearby cities as well as many small businesses. Pacific today values its small town atmosphere of friendliness and independence. The city’s residents are brought together by the Pacific Community Center, which helps residents in need, the Kiwanis Club of Algona-Pacific and annual community events.
