North Bend is a small community located at the entrance of the Cascade Mountains, at the foot of Mount Si and halfway between Seattle and the Snoqualmie Pass. It is a growing rural community with a population of 4,700. North Bend was incorporated in 1909 after plans to plat the city as Snoqualmie in 1889. The city name changed to Mountain View before finally settling on North Bend, due to the city’s location near the bend toward the north of the South Ford River. The city is within easy access to nearby cities such as Bellevue and Seattle via Interstate 90 or State Route 202.
The city is perhaps most famous for its huge factory mall with over 50 outlet shops. This development makes the city attractive to both residents and tourists. The city is also popular for many recreational activities given its location close to Snoqualmie Pass and the Cascade Mountains. Today, the city has been able to maintain a balance between economic development and also the preservation of its rural setting and small community atmosphere.
