Burien, incorporated in March 1993, is one of King County’s newest cities. Burien has become an attractive site for businesses located just south of Seattle bordering on the Puget Sound. It is home to over 31,000 people, a quick commute to Seattle, and also only a quick 5 minutes ride to SeaTac International Airport. Burien also provides great views of the Cascade and Olympic mountains. It is both a city with a small town atmosphere and also a thriving business community.

Plans for a new shopping center are currently underway just west of the Burien Transit Center. The shopping center is owned by Wesbild shopping centers, whose shopping centers in Seattle have attracted shops such as Barnes and Noble, Marshalls, Target and Bed Bath & Beyond.

The Washington State Department of Transportation plans to increase the capacity of the southern junction of Interstate 5 and Interstate 405 in the next couple of years. There are also plans to streamline access to Sea Tac Airport from State Route 518 just east of Burien.
