Bothell has grown from being a small logging community into one of the fastest growing areas in the county. Bothell is attractive to businesses and residents due to its location a mere 12 miles northeast of Seattle. Bothell is also located near the intersection of Interstate 5 and Interstate 405, which gives residents easy access to the business centers of Seattle, Bellevue and Everett.

Bothell has always been known as a logging community since its incorporation in 1909.  Bothell did not develop into a suburban community until the end of World War II with the construction of highways connecting Bothell with other metropolitan cities. Until recently, Bothell was known as a bedroom community since most of the residents worked in Seattle. This has changed within the last few years as a variety of different businesses have moved into the area. The current business developments have created about 17,000 jobs.

Bothell is probably most famous for its life sciences industry. About 20% of the state’s life sciences industries are headquartered in Bothell. Also, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal, 4 out of the 50 fastest growing tech companies in the state are located in Bothell, a list which includes Seattle Genetics, SonoSite, Nastech Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Ultrasound. There are four distinctive areas in Bothell known for its development in the past few years.

North Creek is the location of many different engineering, technology and biotechnology industries. It has three major business parks with many prominent businesses. It also houses a sports field, three major hotels, two large retailers, many restaurants and also the production facility for The Seattle Times. Cascadia Community College and the University of Washington-Bothell campus are also located in the North Creek area.
