- Three of the eight leaders of the Human Genome Project now work in Seattle
- The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Institute led by Nobel Laureate Dr. Lee Hartwell, gained its third Nobel Laureate this last year with the award to Dr. Linda Buck. Six Nobel laureates total call Seattle home.
